Push-Pull Techniques
@ Lebensbaum Praxis, Carinthia, Austria
Day 1:
Saturday, January 14, 2023 @ 10:00 AM – 6 PM CET
Day 2:
Sunday, January 15, 2023 @ 9:00 AM – 4 PM CET
Push-pull techniques are extremely powerful – they allow you to go deep, with great effect, but minimal effort. You might find these advanced techniques very helpful with clients that are big, tight, or stiff, but you can also use them in a very gentle way. The key is to let the movement
originate in the hara and spiral out to your limbs so they move in opposite directions. It is found in many ancient disciplines like Tai Chi or Chi Gong. It also follows the principle of cross-pattering.
In this 2-day workshop, Margarete will demonstrate a variety of Ohashiatsu push-pull techniques on different parts of the body: back, legs, arms, and neck. She’ll explain in detail how to move and you’ll apply and practice it on each other, using thumbs, palms, and knees.
This workshop is open to Ohashiatsu/Shiatsu practitioners and students, and anyone interested in refining and perfecting their body mechanics. Basic knowledge of Shiatsu/Ohashiatsu is helpful.

Ohashiatsu® Practice Classes
(online/in-person)
Sunday, January 15, 2023 @ 06:00PM CET
(3 hours in-person / 2 hours online)
Class language is English and German, as needed.
Practice classes help you to improve and refine the techniques you have learned in our courses. Only through regular practice will your movements become smooth and gentle, your sensitivity increases and you gain more confidence.
A minimum of 30 practice classes are required to complete the Ohashiatsu program. They are offered in-person (monthly, 6 student max) and online (12 students max).
Practice classes are open to all Ohashiatsu course levels, and to anyone who has attended our practical workshops.
IN-PERSON Practice Classes:
In our 3-hour in-person classes students practice on each other with our teachers providing practical assistance with technique and body posture. We begin with exercises, meditation, and a demonstration of techniques. Experiencing the work on your own body is an additional benefit and an essential element of learning.
ONLINE Practice Classes:
In the 2-hour online practice classes, you will work on a partner at home and drop out when we change partners in the in-person class. Our certified teachers observe your work on screen and correct where necessary. Here too, exercises and techniques are demonstrated and you are invited to bring in your specific wishes and questions. This is how it works:
- Have a partner with you to work on
- Prepare your workplace with a mat/futon and everything you need for your session
- The class will be held as a Zoom meeting. You will get the link upon registration
- Set up your computer or phone camera so that we can overlook your entire work area

This course demonstrates why Ohashiatsu is the best modality for the practitioner. The use of arms, elbows and knees increases the feeling of body balance and graceful, flowing movement; the hands and thumbs come to their well-deserved relief. The new techniques allow you to establish more than two connections to your partner and thus strengthen the feeling of nourishing togetherness. So you can experience Ohashiatsu as meditation.
In this course you will learn
- The diagnostic zones in the hara and back
- The distinction between different energy qualities according to Kyo / Jitsu
- The psychological / emotional aspects of meridian energy and how they relate to the five elements
- Introduction to Shitsuto Masunaga’s theories
- During the course students will take a written test
